The Military genre can include fiction and non fiction books, the latter taking the form of historical accounts, personal memoirs, or biographical texts about people who stood out in armed conflicts. It can also be set in the present day or during events from other times (in the past or near future).
Although they are often titled War books, not all stories take place in combat locations. Topics can range from military life and its implications for family and society, the journey of military training (whether physical or psychological), to the environment in enemy territory during direct conflicts or peacekeeping missions.
While they may feature exhaustive descriptions of weaponry, warfare technology, and combat tactics, many plots focus more on the human side of their players, such as the bond between soldiers or the physical and emotional consequences of living in extreme scenarios. The concepts of honor, duty, bravery, and sacrifice are often the heart of books in this genre.
