In the Mystery or Crime genre, also called Police Novel, the story aims to solve a crime that has already been committed. However, this type of book doesn't need to include violence, not even a murder.
The clues presented (or suggested) throughout the narrative, as well as the personality of each character, form the structure that helps to unravel what truly happened.
The greatest characteristic of this genre is that it leads the reader to mentally follow all the evidence, as if they were investigating it personally. As the audience reads each chapter, they try to figure out the criminals and their motives, as well as discover how the crime actually happened, before the writer even reveals it.
A well-known subgenre is called Detective Fiction, because it includes an investigator (private or police) as the protagonist, or a common figure who assumes this role either out of his own motivation or because the plot demands it.
If your book fits these characteristics, this is the right place to request
a cover design or book interior layout
that will appeal to your potential readers.
